Program Introduction |项目简介

Our residency program welcomes artists working in all media and disciplines. We encourage creators from diverse backgrounds—whether in traditional, experimental, or interdisciplinary practices—to apply and be part of this vibrant exchange.

  • Duration of the program ranges from 1 to 3 months ( begins from the 1st day of each month)

  • Artists are expected to give an introduction of their artistic practice at the beginning of their residency and conclude their time at No.name with an open studio exhibition to showcase their research and work

  • Residency staffs are facilitators to support artists. However, they cannot directly involve in any research and creation. Artists are expected to be able to create work, and live independently, and be in good physical health and mental condition

  • Artists need to vacant their personal belongings when they leave, including their artworks unless other arrangements have been made with residency staff

  • No Name sponsors all selected residency artists. All costs that are necessary to finish the project will be covered

We've got all your questions covered! | 我们为您解答所有问题!

  • We cover the accommodation, materials needed during the residency, promotion, and exhibition setup. However, participants are responsible for covering their own travel expenses (including airfare and visa fees).

Each artist has access to a private kitchen inside their own spacious 300-square-meter studio, allowing them to cook independently. Zhujiajiao is also renowned for its excellent traditional Chinese cuisine, with many local restaurants offering delicious and affordable meals.

Any additional personal expenses (such as private car rentals, travel insurance, etc.) must also be covered by the participant.

  • As part of the residency, we ask each artist to leave one artwork, which becomes part of the NoName Studio Foundation’s collection. This piece is often included in future exhibitions and promotional activities.

Additionally, artists have the option to leave a second artwork, which may be considered for inclusion in the permanent collection of a major Chinese state contemporary art museum.

All other artworks remain the full property of the artists and can be taken back at the end of the residency. We do not retain, hold, or claim any rights over the other pieces beyond the two mentioned.

  • The residency is open to visual artists and creatives working in painting, drawing, graphics, photography, sculpture, ceramics, glass, textile art, new media, writing, and music.

The residency provides artists with an inspiring setting just 30 minutes from downtown Shanghai, allowing them to immerse themselves in a peaceful, culturally rich environment while remaining closely connected to one of China’s most dynamic metropolitan areas.

  • The residency period ranges from 1 to 3 months and can be agreed upon together with the artist.

If selected and you have specific availability, we will collaborate closely with you to coordinate and finalize the period. We will do our best to accommodate your availability and ensure a smooth, artist-friendly experience.
